Disable Sensor Net - Heroes of the Aturi Cluster AAR

Raider Squadron returns with some new additions.

Rebel Command: "Raiders, the TIE Defender pilot you brought back has given us some critical intel.

An asteroid field in the Argus system conceal an Imperial refueling station. If we can capture this base, we could gain a well-defended starting area, deep in Imperial space."

However, the base is protected by an early-warning sensor net, which would give the Empire ample time to prepare against any attack we launch. Disable it before we can strike!"

Raider Squadron
Raider Two: X-Wing
Name: Brian
Callsign: Starfish

Raider Three: Y-Wing
Name: Bob
Callsign: Screwball

Raider Five: Y-Wing
Name: Gary
Callsign: Blip

Raider Six: Y-Wing
Name: Cameron
Callsign: L-Jenkins

Raider Two: "Alright, Raiders. Let's try and keep of the Imp's sensor net - we don't want the entire system's worth of TIEs coming down on our heads."

Raider Three: "You jinxed us, Two! We've got Squints inbound."

Raider Five: "Two sensors down!"

Raider Two: "And there goes an Eyeball."

Raider Six: "Damn! We've got another Squint that wants to tangle."

Raider Three: "Scratch another Eyeball."

Raider Six: "Fourth Squint in range. If this keeps going, we're going to be drowning in Imp fighters!"

Raider Six: "Ok, that's another sensor gone... Keep an eye on that new Squint."

Raider Three: "Boom! Glad I brought that bomb."

Raider Five: "Careful Two, you've got a Dupe on your tail!"

Raider Three: "Second bomb away! Take that you imperi-"

Raider Five: "Three's down! But I've got a transponder signal - he's alive!"

Raider Six: "One more sensor destroyed! Let's get those last two!"

Raider Two: "Glad these morons put this net in an asteroid field. They can't seem to avoid them!"

Raider Five: "Ha! I got another sensor. Onto the last one."

Raider Six: "What are you doing, Two?"

Raider Two: "Gonna see if I can't get that Dupe before Five gets the sensor."

Raider Five: "You're on, Two!"

Raider Two: "Damn! Dupe got past me."

Raider Five: "Lucky me - I've got a stationary target. And it's gone!"

Raider Six: "The Imp's are running for it!"

Rebel Command: "Raiders, the sensor network is broken! We'll send a shuttle to retrieve Raider Three. All other ships, regroup with the main strike force and prepare to launch the assault. The refueling station will be ours!"

Defector - Heroes of the Aturi Cluster AAR

Once again, Raider Squadron has been tasked with a new mission.

Rebel Command: "One of the test pilots for the Empire's new space superiority fighter, the TIE Defender, is a Rebel sympathizer. She's been in contact with our operatives and wishes to defect with a stolen prototype."

Rebel Command: "The best opportunity for us to help her escape intact will be during one of her squadron's training exercises in the Parein system.

We'll jump in, make contact and provide cover while she escapes. However, she won't know we're here to cover her, and we won't know which of the prototypes is hers, until we can make visual contact."

Raider Squadron
Raider One: X-Wing
Pilot: Kevyn
Callsign: Idol

Raider Two: X-Wing
Pilot: Brian
Callsign: Starfish

Raider Three: Y-Wing
Pilot: Bob
Callsign: Screwball

Raider One: "We're heading right into the middle of a training exercise, so we'll have the element of surprise for a short period of time. All we need to do is cover the defector until she hits lightspeed and jumps back to safety. We go in fast, hit hard, and get out before the Imps realize what's happening."

Raider Three: "Hutt's balls, Idol, you weren't kidding about getting stuck in, were you?"

Raider One: "Okay, so maybe things got a little more heated than we expected. Scanning now..."

Defector: "Are you the ones who are supposed to get me out of here?"

Raider Two: "Supposed to, yeah. We've got you covered, get your hyperdrive started and get out of here."

Defender Pilot: "You're working with these rebel scum? Traitor!"

Defector: "Hyperdrive is still warming up, and I'm taking a lot of hits. What are you idiots doing out there?"

Raider One: "We're working on it, lady. Give us some slack and focus on escaping!"

Raider Three: "She's out! I repeat, she's out!"

Raider Two: "And not a moment too soon. We've got a shuttle coming in with reinforcements!"

Raider One: "Raider Squadron, retreat and go to lightspeed. Let's make sure the newest addition to the Rebellion made it back base in one piece."

Rebel Command: "Pilots, today has been a great victory over the Empire. We've captured a TIE Defender! We may be able to adapt some of this ship's advanced weapons technology."

Tread Softly - Heroes of the Aturi Cluster AAR

Raider Squadron is back after a fresh start, along with some new members!

Rebel Command: "Our efforts to undermine the Empire's operations in the Nulan system are getting noticed. Imperial forces have begun cracking down on hyperspace travel by deploying minefields along hyperspace routes favored by smugglers.

We aren't in any danger yet, but this operation has the potential to disrupt our supply lines and restrict our future movements.

Our best option is a pre-emptive strike - get out there and clear those mines!"

Raider Squadron
Raider Two: X-Wing
Pilot: Brian
Callsign: Starfish

Raider Three: Y-Wing
Pilot: Bob
Callsign: Screwball

Raider Four: Y-Wing
Pilot: Dan
Callsign: Stinger

Raider Two: "I've got a Dupe patrolling the minefield. Target's locked, I'm going in."

Raider Three: "Roger, Starfish. Stinger and I will work on clearing these mines."

Raider Three: "Careful, One. That Dupe's laying out mines as fast as we can take them out."

Raider Two: "Not for long, Screwball. I just need another good shot."

Raider Four: "Might need a little help over here, guys..."

Raider Three: "Getting friendly with the locals, Stinger?"

Raider Four: "Not funny, Three! Get these Eyeballs off me!"

Raider Two: "One Dupe chased off, but I've got another one behind me. Just my luck."

Raider Two: "Gotta clear these mines, or I'm going to get spaced!"

Raider Four: "Run, you Imp cowards! And don't come back!"

Raider Three: "Good shooting, Four. Mines in our area are gone. How're things holding up with you, Two?"

Raider Two: "It's getting a little crowded here, Three!"

Raider Three: "On it, Two. Get that Dupe, and leave the Eyeballs to us."

Raider Two: "And down goes the Dupe!"

Raider Four: "Woah! Eyeball's getting a little close for comfort."

Raider Three: "Get those mines cleared, Four. The Imp's not going anywhere."

Raider Four: "The mines are gone..."

Raider Three: "And say goodbye to the last Tie! The route is clean and the Imps are on the run."

Raider Two: "Alright, Raider Squadron. Engage hyperdrives and let's get back to base. Drinks are on me!"

Rebel Command: "Excellent job, pilots. Keeping those routes clear of mines will buy us the time we need to take delivery of some much needed supplies."

Local Trouble - Heroes of the Aturi Cluster AAR

There's been some interest in trying out the Heroes of the Aturi Cluster campaign for X-Wing. Kevyn had the chance to try out the rules solo during the recent blizzard, and had some pretty positive things to say about it. So last week he set up the introductory scenario.

Rebel Command: "Welcome to the Outer Rim, pilots. Our convoy is currently en route to a hidden Rebel Base in the Parmel Sector, and you'll be on escort duty until we arrive.

We've picked up a group of enemy signals in the nearby asteroid field; likely an Imperial patrol. Intercept these those ships, and keep them away from the convoy until we can execute a hyperspace jump to ensure our base remains hidden.

Good luck!"

Raider Squadron
Raider One: X-Wing
Pilot: Kevyn
Callsign: Catalyst

Raider Two: Y-Wing
Pilot: Brian
Callsign: Brick

Raider One: "Heads up, Two; I've got three Eyeballs coming in fast."

Raider Two: "I seem 'em, One. Shields up and engines hot."

Raider One: "I'll take the two on the right."

Raider Two: "Leaves one for me. Hey, that one Eyeball's kinda funny looking..."

Raider Two: "One, I've got another guest at this party! And my shields are taking hits from these damn rocks!"

Raider One: "Keep flying, Brick. I'll handle my Imp and get back over to you."

Raider Two: "Squint! Cat, you've got a Squint in your six!"

Raider One: "Damn! Command, we're going to need some backup here. We've got more Imperials than we can handle."

Raider One: "How're you doing, Two? I've got two Eyeballs wrapped up."

Raider Two: "I've gotten out of the fire. Going after the Squint."

Raider Two: "Who put all these rocks in the way?!"

Raider One: "Two, we've got another Tie coming in."

Raider Two: "I'm already up to my eyeballs in Eyeballs here, Cat!"

Raider Two: "In the clear!"

Raider One: "Careful, Brick. You've got a furball going on behind you. Don't get caught up in that."

Raider Two: "Good shooting, One! Scratch one Eyeball."

Raider One: "Two, you've got two Imps on you. Get out of there!"

Raider Two: "I can't! Too many rocks! I can't shak-AAAAAAAAAARRRRGH!"

Raider One: "Two? Two?!"

Rebel Command: "Brick's down, Catalyst. Reinforcements are on the way."

Raider One: "Just need to keep them off of me..."

Raider One: "Ha! One more Eyeball down!"

Sword One: "Raider, this is Sword. Get out of here - we'll take care of the rest of these Imperials."

Rebel Command: "Great work pilots! Our convoy is safe from harm. Now we can begun operation against the Empire in this star system.

Raider One, we've homed in on Raider Two's emergency beacon. We'll pick him up and bring him back to base."

So, Kevyn managed to score 4 experience points over the course of the game, while I lost the Munitions Failsafe modification I had bought in the hopes of getting some torpedoes. Oh well - there's always next time!
